Often the distance between our aims and our currents standings seems to be a cliff which can be scary at the first look. Especially since you can not jump over it with a series of small jumps. It is simply impossible. If you want to jump over a cliff you need to have a big jump.

Just as in life in order to make significant changes you need big steps, not small ones. You have to have the determination to move out from your comfort zone and even to be ready to burn the bridge behind you if it is necessary.

And why is it scary? Because outside your comfort zone everything is new.
And why is it fun? Because outside your comfort zone everything is new.

Most of us have fears which is often influenced by the opinions of others. Let me tell you something. The opinions are your best friends. Even a negative opinion can indicate a positive change. When people forms an opinion about you either negative or positive it means you started to make a difference.

The worse thing that can happen with you that people have no opinion about you, which means your aim, your personality is neutral for them.

My favourite quote goes from Sir Winston Churchill:

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, something in your life.”

It is so simple, yet so true because at the very moment you are able to make people think, you are ready to form opinions in a global scale and you are ready to make significant changes. Changes that are effecting not just your own life, but the life of your environment as well.

Nowadays everyone is afraid about reputation which became a sacred and extremely fragile thing. However it is over mystified and mixed with the fear from the rejection of the society. Today everyone calls everyone friends. There is no meaning anymore for the word of “acquaintance”, when within a minute we have hundreds of Facebook and LinkedIn “best friends”. For this reason when you have a real, true friend, it often did not even heard, since its meaning is almost lost. This is the world where the reputation is seems to be depended on the opinions of our so-called friends. However this is an illusion only.

Looking back to the past, opening up our mind we can simply observe that most people who stood up for something discovered it in the hard way. Acceptance never came in the first steps, it often arrived after a long and exhausting road of obstacles.

I like obstacles, because they are challenging us and by overcoming these difficulties we can always reborn.

I heard once that in the modern society most of the people give up their dreams and aims even before(!) the first obstacle arrives. We are used to overthink things, overcomplicate the path in front of us which often triggers a false fear that blocks our willingness to even start to walk on the road of our aims. This results the fact that most people gives up on their dreams even before the first obstacles. This is crazy.

In contradictory you have to think about the fact that some well-known people stood outside the box all through their lives. They lived (or still live) in a very untraditional way and they all seem to be very “odd” to the average people. However the unmistakably common thing in all of them is that they live for their aims without accepting the word “impossible”.

I love the word “impossible”, because it contains the possibility in itself. It is a great word which truly defines how you observe the world.

impossible = i m possible

Personally I also have same business idols from the past whom I consider great and out of the box persons and one of the Edison.

Thomas Alva Edison is one of America’s most famous inventors. Edison saw huge change take place in his lifetime. He was responsible for making many of those changes occur. His inventions created and contributed to modern night lights, movies, telephones, records and CDs. Edison was truly a genius.

“Results? Why, man, I have gotten lots of results! If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is often a step forward…”

Edison is most famous for his development of the first electric light bulb. When Edison was born, electricity had not been developed. By the time he died, entire cities were lit by electricity. Much of the credit for electricity goes to Edison.

Personally I try to copy his persistence towards my personal aims and goals, and not to give up on our desires even if it takes 10,000 attempts to achieve them.

I remember that back in 2008 I said that

“Every mountain can be climbed you just have to find the appropriate way to it.
If somebody does not achieve it’s goal then he/she has not done everything to achieve it.
The secret of success is persistence!”

since then it became my motto. I truly believe that reaching our wildest ambitions is highly depends on our willingness to learn, adjust and our courage and persistence to move forward on our road of aims.

A long-long time ago when I was a little kid we often went to the theme parks and fun fairs and I always looked for the dodgem. The elder generation knows about these little cars and the track where the aim was to push out each other and destruct everyone from the road they took with those small electric cars.

Growing up I realised that it is quite similar how a real world works. When you are aiming to make a significant change in your life you just enter in your dodgem car. You have a vision where you want to go which seems to be a very clear point in the beginning. Then you hear the buzzer and that cars starts to move. The emotions starts to escalade in you and boom… you experience the first crash which immediately hijack you from your goal.

But you do not give up, you start to turn the wheel you will find back to your road towards you aims, then boom again… And this is going over and over until you either reach your desired aim or just simple give it up.

After twenty years of research and conducting various interview about the secrets of America’s top millionaires, Napoleon Hill the great author of the “Think and Grow Rich” book wrote

More than five hundred of the most successful men this country has ever known, told the author their greatest success came just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them. Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning.

Sometimes all you need is a little step back in order to observe the bigger picture and to move forward. Imagine that you are stuck because there is a big wall between you and your aims which can happen very often. When you are standing right behind the wall your view is very limited, you are facing only with the obstacle itself. However if you are able to step a few steps back you might can see a small door on the wall which can lead you further towards your aims.

By true visionaries and persistent people stepping back is never considered as a failure. Paulo Coelho wrote once in his book:

“In the cycle of nature there is no such thing as victory or defeat, there is only movement.

Defeat is for warriors…

Failure is when you don’t have any more interest in fight.

Defeat ends when we launch into another battle. Meanwhile failure has no end, because it is a lifetime choice.”

As for this reason when you are ready to jump over a cliff, dare to step back a few steps in order to make that higher jump to defeat the distance.

Just go for it!
