Solidarity: Flags to be flown at half-mast

As a mark of solidarity with Italy, where a national day of mourning is planned on 18 August in memory of the victims of the bridge collapse in Genoa, a decision has been made to fly flags at half-mast on public buildings this Saturday.

At least 42 people have been killed after a motorway bridge collapsed in torrential rain in the northern Italian port city of Genoa. An 80-metre section of the bridge, including one set of the supports that tower above it, crashed down on to the roof of a factory and other buildings, crushing at least one lorry and plunging huge slabs of concrete into the river below.
