On Wednesday 21 February 2018, the Rainier III Auditorium hosted the 7th Forum on Sandwich Courses and the 12thMeeting on Careers in Banking and Finance. These events, organised by the Employment Office and the Youth Employment Unit, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, are aimed at students of all levels aged between 16 and 26, giving them a chance to meet regional specialists in sandwich training, as well as companies from the Principality which are partnering this initiative.
Welcoming more than 630 visitors over the course of the day, the 7th Forum proved hugely successful: “our aim in terms of visitor numbers was 500 young people, and we’ve significantly surpassed that figure,” said Sophie Vincent, Deputy Director of the Department of Employment, adding that “this year, 87 organisations were represented:45 Monegasque companies, 15 banks and management companies and 25 schools from the region, as well as the Academic Counselling and Education Resource Centre.”
It is clear that sandwich training is becoming an option for an increasing number of courses and career paths, as evidenced by the wide range of business sectors represented. The Forum also shows that many Monegasque professionals support and are actively involved in the access to employment projects and initiatives put in place by the Prince’s Government.
As has become traditional over the last five years, the day concluded with the award of the 5th Apprenticeship Trophies, presented by Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, to three apprentices with exemplary academic and professional records, and to their host companies:
- Best Apprentice Prize, tied between: Coralie Sategna & PASTOR IMMOBILIER and Alizée Sassi & the YACHT-CLUB DE MONACO
- Jury’s Prize: Daniela Guerra-Flores and MOBEE
The Forum on Sandwich Courses, enhanced by the award of the Apprenticeship Trophies, has become the highlight of a year-round effort being undertaken by the Employment Office and Youth Employment Unit to constantly improve, manage, develop and promote this approach, always seeking to work in partnership with business.
