Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva claims teenage team-mate Kylian Mbappe has ‘something special’ about his play.
Kylian Mbappe continued his excellent scoring record this season with a 16th goal of the campaign during a 2-1 Ligue 1 win over Bordeaux on Saturday.
The youngster has already been compared to legendary French striker Thierry Henry and Silva can understand why a number of the continent’s top clubs are thought to be monitoring Mbappe’s progress.
‘He is 18 years old and what he does is amazing,’ Silva told Le Figaro.
‘Right from the start, we saw and we knew he was a slightly different player, in his way of touching the ball for example.
‘He has a game that has something special. On top of that, he works a lot. I hope that he will continue to help us win titles.’
Mbappe was on target for Monaco during the entertaining 5-3 defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League last month.
The two clubs meet in the return leg on Wednesday night and Silva knows Monaco face an uphill battle to qualify for the quarter-finals.
‘Yes, we will have to make an outstanding match,’ he said. ‘We know that City are in form right now.
‘But with our supporters we can do it. We have this ambition, then we will see.
‘We know we must not concede a goal and we know that is not easy against this team.’
