Kylian Mbappe has been praised for his skill on the pitch, but the internet thinks his acting needs a bit of work.
The 19-year-old French soccer player dropped to the ground during the second half of France’s quarter-final game against Uruguay on Friday. While Kylian was writhing in agony, it didn’t appear he hit Uruguay’s Cristian Rodriguez’s outstretched arm very hard at all.
Within minutes of his injury, Twitter was flooded with football fans accusing him of ‘pulling a Neymar,’ a reference to Neymar’s dramatic tumble after being ‘stamped on’ during a game against Mexico.
‘If Kylian Mbappe continues to take the Neymar route and fake injury I will never be a fan,’ one Twitter user said.
‘This year’s Academy Award for best injury performance goes to…Kylian Mbappe!! Congrats to France,’ another tweeted.
ESPN UK joked: ‘PSG seem to be teaching Neymar and Kylian Mbappe well.’
